Meeting High Points 11/16/2005

 

Twenty-two people attend the meeting.  Twenty are women, two are men.

 

-Goals for the organization: 

-Workshops Ð to develop scripts, how to write a budget, production guide, etc

- Film Grant Ð to be given to a woman director for a short film.

-Bring in successful woman filmmakers to give lectures and screen films.

 

-Our first workshop will be in January, in time to prepare for class projects and the Niteskool music video.

 

-Deb Tolchinsky has signed on as our faculty advisor.  She is great.

 

-Our group needs a new name, does anyone have ideas?

 

-We hope the group will be able to provide workshops on many different aspects of production.

 

- In the spring, Jennifer Brody is teaching a course about black women in filmmaking.

 

-Interview for the executive board will be next Monday and Tuesday, Nov 28th and 29th, from 10 AM to 10 PM.  Email r-wolther@northwestern.edu to schedule an interview time.  We will be interviewing for the following positions:

Vice Chairperson Ð runs meeting in absence of chairperson.  Maintains group web page (either directly or through liaison with webmaster)

         Treasurer Ð manages group funds.

Secretary Ð takes notes at meetings, keeps track of group papers and contracts.

Fundraising Chair Ð organizes committee to raise money for the group.

Alumni Relations Ð contacts Northwestern Alumni to find possible lecturers and donators?  Will work closely with Fundraising Chair.

Outreach Coordinator Ð keeps in contact with other filmmaking and womenÕs groups on campus and in the area.

         Publicity Chair Ð organizes committee to publicize group events.

         Events Chair Ð organizes committee to create and plan events.

 

 

-Why arenÕt more women directing?  The group discusses.  There are many theories but no conclusions. The goal of this group is to eliminate it, even if we canÕt pinpoint the cause of this phenomenon,
